Reismühle Brunnen - Your specialist for fair and ecologically produced rice
With 25 employees, we produce 12,000 tonnes of rice a year in Brunnen, Switzerland. More than half of it originates from sustainable cultivation - organic and fairtrade. The offer includes over 60 rice varieties from all over the world for retail, wholesale and industrial customers.
Nutrex – Specialist for vinegar
We are the leading supplier for vinegar in Switzerland. Our team of 15 employees produces approximately 8'900'000 liters of vinegar of which 500'000 liters are in organic quality.
Largely, we provide the retail business but also the whole sale and the industry.
15.10.2021 - Visiting Greece
Greece has two main rice-growing regions, the larger of the two being around Thessaloniki. The overall production area for rice is on the small side at around 32,000 hectares. Around half of the rice produced in Greece is used within the country, while the rest is exported. The west coast of the Thermaic Gulf is one of Greece’s most important wetlands – a mosaic with rich vegetation creating a stunning landscape with flooded rice fields, flat lagoons and sandy islands. This area is of huge environmental significance, making it one of Europe's most important wetlands. It is under the protection of the Ramsar Convention and part of the "Natura 2000” network of European nature reserves. More than 500 species of plant, 278 types of bird and numerous wild animals live in this abundant area. With four rivers, it is the key region of the delta and Greece’s main rice production hub. Its agricultural infrastructure is comparable with the area around Vercelli in Italy. This region produces 70% of the total volume of Greek rice and enjoys consistently high yields that are being continually improved by well-qualified growers. The wealth of nutrients brought in by the rivers, and the proximity to the ocean give the rice grown here a pleasantly rich taste. The continental Mediterranean climate is ideal for the harvest with an average low temperature of 5 °C in February and an average maximum temperature of 25 °C in July.
23.09.2021 - Construction Update September 2021
A lot has happened since we started construction on our factory extension in Brunnen. Over a year has passed and the construction part on our new vinegar factory is now complete. Currently, all the technical equipment is being installed and we are planning on starting the actual vinegar production by late September. The bottling plant is scheduled to begin in November 2021.
We are looking forward to the next months and are excited to put our vinegar factory into operation.
08.06.2021 - New Packaging
Our organic basmati rice and organic jasmine rice are now available at Coop in new packaging! The rice derives from our successful and progressive projects in India and Thailand, which we have been part of for ten years. The new packaging gives more information about the projects, their origins and visions.
10.03.2021 - New Silos
Last week, our old silos, which had been in use since 1976, were dismantled. The replacement consists of new chrome steel silos, which are 13.5 meters high, 3 meters wide and weight about 3,5 tons. Each one of the silos can hold up to 74 cubic / 50 tons of rice.
24.08.2020 - Successful Laying of the Foundation Stone in Brunnen
On August 20th, 2020, with the necessary precautions taken due to COVID-19, the foundation stone for the new Nutrex factory was placed on the construction site in Brunnen. Together with invited guests and the employees of Reismühle Brunnen/Nutrex, the event was celebrated.
Joos Sutter, Chief Executive Officer at Coop, Reto Conrad, Head of Directorate at Coop, and Roger Müller, Real Estate Project Manager at Coop, were in attendance. Andreas Barraud, Head of the Department of Economic Affairs of Schwyz, has also positively expressed his support for the additional production factory in the centre of Schwyz. In the afternoon, Gerhard Marty, CEO of Reismühle Brunnen/Nutrex, Joos Sutter, Reto Conrad, Roger Müller and Andreas Barraud laid down the foundation stone made of granite.
